Remove water from a flooded basement slowly, discard all porous materials exposed to flood water and place discarded materials in sorted piles. Appliances normally need to be discarded due to contamination of motors and electronics, air ducts usually need to be discarded, drywall and insulation need to removed, plaster can be salvaged, and plywood needs to be examined for delamination.
